THE TEXTILE SHOW at the Art Factory

The Textile Show has been designed to celebrate Paterson’s rich textile heritage, highlight the role that the Art Factory is playing in that continuing history and showcase the talents of emerging and established textile-based artists - both domestically and internationally. This annual, textile art exhibition will open on Saturday, September 28, from 1pm until 8pm in various locations within Art Factory properties at 60-70 Spruce Street and 468 Totowa Avenue in Paterson, NJ. The exhibition will be open daily by appointment until the closing reception on Saturday, November 16.

The Textile Show will be a collection of temporary exhibitions, site-specific installations, runway-style fashion shows and live performances. Much of the artwork will emphasize textile manufacturing and the historical context of the Paterson Mill District. This exhibit is also planned to coincide with Fashion Week in NYC and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s new exhibit: Interwoven Globe, The Worldwide Textile Trade, 1500–1800. “Textiles and textile designs made their way throughout the globe, from India and Asia to Europe, between India and Asia and Southeast Asia, from Europe to the east, and eventually west to the American colonies. Trade textiles blended the traditional designs, skills, and tastes of all of the cultures that produced them, resulting in objects that are both beautiful and historically fascinating.”

The Textile Show has brought together the curatorial skills of Donata Garsia, Christina Stahr, M.Gosser, Rupert Ravens and Ramiro Torres to showcase the artwork of: Maximo Laura, Amanda Thackrey, Diane Savona, Courtney Puckett, Jamie Kimak, Jen Schwartz, Gianluca Bianchino, Gema Alava, Michael Asente, Daria Dorosch, Monique Luchetti, Christina Stahr, Ann Stoddard, Thomas Lendvai, Eun Hye Kang,
